Springfield High School Student Theater Workshop (STW)
The SHS Springfield Theatre Workshop (STW) has dedicated its 2009-2010 theater season to Casey's memory. In addition, they held a special "pink performance" of the Laramie Project on Nov. 20th in which the cast performed in pink and wore the pink Casey memory bracelets. A reception was held before the performance in the "Commons" outside the Knorr Theatre, where all in attendance could view a multitude of photographs of Casey. A plaque was dedicated in Casey's memory which now hangs in the Knorr Theatre at Springfield High School.
According to SHS teacher and theater director, John Guildea,
Casey’s dedication to the theatrical arts was astounding and her theatrical performances were dynamic. She will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Throughout her life, Casey was a star. While in 10th grade here at SHS, Casey joined the theatre program when she starred in The Laramie project. From that moment on, Casey was in every theater production until she graduated, including Our Town (Professor Willard), Arsenic and Old Lace (Elaine Harper), The Odd Couple (Gwendolyn Pigeon), and The Mousetrap (Mollie Ralston)....[A]n entire town and many others have grieved over the loss of Casey. Her death has affected so many people because whenever she entered anyone’s life, she was there for good. STW will be will be presenting a plaque in her honor on November 20, 2009, so that during all future rehearsals and performances, her light will radiate down on everyone. Casey was a star in life and now she is a star in heaven. She will always be there for us as our guiding light.
