Fatal Shooting on Sept. 22 on Amsterdam Avenue and 63rd Street

At around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 22, Cat Roberts, an FCLC student who lives in an apartment building on 64th St. between Amsterdam and West End Avenues, said that she heard “five or more gunshots… screaming, and then sirens” outside her building.

NYPD Officer Clark Tiger confirmed that there was a shooting at 63rd and Amsterdam early Monday morning and that the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at an unnamed hospital. The New York Sun reported that 32 year-old Dennis Bonner “suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso” and was taken to Roosevelt Hospital. Tiger did say that the police “had a suspect,” and the New York Sun reported that no arrests have yet been made.

Roberts said that she contacted New York 1 News, and was told that the victim lived in the Amsterdam Houses, a public housing project on Amsterdam Ave.
