Creatures Great and Small

The image that I will always clearly recall is that of the two girls, cousins by birth yet best friends and sisters out of love, diving into the pool on a mission of great importance: that of rescuers in pursuit of the lesser critters of nature whose misfortune it was to have landed so precariously in the waters of our backyard pool.

Upon spotting a cricket or a beetle being conveyed on a leaf in the direction of the swirling waters of the filter basket, Casey and Jamie, a stalwart team of determined young minds, would utter an almost synchronized squeal and plunge into the often chilling waters on their quest.

Fordham Observer Tribute to Casey

The staff of the Fordham Observer created a two page insert titled “In Loving Memory of Casey Feldman” – “A memory-filled tribute to The Observer’s former News Editor.
Casey joined the staff of the student newspaper, The Fordham Observer, as a freshman and began writing immediately.

About Casey Feldman

Casey Feldman, 21, of Springfield, Pennsylvania, a senior at Fordham University Lincoln Center and an award-winning student journalist, was killed by a distracted driver on July 17, 2009 in Ocean City, N.J. She was 3/4 of the way across the street in a crosswalk during daylight hours when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign. He was looking down, reaching for his GPS.
