I love this picture of Casey and the Observer ladies. The excitement and attentiveness that is evident in this photo is how I best remember Casey. I’m hard-pressed to remember a time when she was ever not smiling or laughing about something, even when it was nearly midnight on production Tuesdays and there was still work to be done. She was always so eager and enthusiastic about every task she took on. You can see it in the light in her eyes in this picture. She was the heart and energy of The Observer. The rest of us will have a lot of pieces to pick up along the way. I only hope we will be able to match her dedication and journalistic skill, but I think the biggest challenge will be making it through production Tuesdays without her jokes, stories and energy. We’ll miss you, Casey.
