The Interview

I knew Casey as my partner Joel’s daughter. When it came time for summer employment, Joel thought Casey’s wit and writing skills could be helpful for the Firm’s PR. So I was to “interview” her. I had met Casey before but did not know her well enough to appreciate her approach to life. Those who know her well need no further description. Needless to say, it turned that I was the one who was interviewed. Further, Casey informed me, in her sweet and clever way, that the job could never be accomplished in the manner I suggested. Rather, if we followed the Casey method, we would get a much better product. Now I am a lawyer who supposedly has some authority and gravitas which could potentially intimidate a young interviewee. No chance. Casey, in a nice but persistent way, got the situation turned completely around, got the job and she was right about the method.
